Data#3 Professional Services are seeking aSenior Systems Engineer to join our team in SA as part of a requirement to support one of our external customers.

This role involves a hybrid client environment, encompassing VMware, VeeamOne, HP Data Protector, Azure, and Active Directory. The Senior Systems Engineer will play a crucial role in maintaining the stability of the existing infrastructure while contributing to the strategic growth and development of the IT systems within the organization.

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have a background in the manufacturing industry and be able to demonstrate an understanding of the unique challenges and requirements within this sector.

Technical Skills:

• Proficient in VMware technology, with hands-on experience in managing and maintaining virtualized environments.
• Familiarity with VeeamOne and expertise in implementing and managing VeeamOne backup solutions.
• Extensive knowledge of HP Data Protector for efficient data backup and recovery.
• Experience in working with a Hybrid IT environment, specifically managing VMware infrastructure with VeeamOne backup and HP Data Protector for on-premises systems.
• Competency in cloud computing, particularly in Azure, for effective management of the organization's cloud environment.
• Strong understanding and practical experience in Active Directory administration - Active Directory and Microsoft Entra ID hybrid identity / joined deployment
• Network and Firewall administration 
• Maintenance of systems that support manufacturing

Responsibilities:

1. Business as Usual (BAU) Tasks:

• Monitor, maintain, and optimize the existing VMware infrastructure to ensure seamless day-to-day operations.
• Oversee and manage routine backups using VeeamOne and HP Data Protector, ensuring data integrity and timely recovery capabilities.
• Provide support for end-users, resolving technical issues and ensuring minimal disruptions to business processes.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address and resolve IT-related incidents promptly.
• End user support to manufacturing users

2. Operation & Projects Tasks:

• Lead and contribute to IT projects, from planning to execution, ensuring successful implementation within established timelines.
• Evaluate and recommend improvements to the existing IT infrastructure, proposing innovative solutions to enhance overall efficiency and performance.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, design, and implement systems that align with the organization's strategic goals.
• Take ownership of system upgrades, migrations, and installations, ensuring minimal impact on daily operations.

Additional Requirements:

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to new technologies quickly.
• Certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP) and Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate would be advantageous.
• Cisco network certification advantageous
