  • Be part of QBE ‘s Global Application Infrastructure Engineering team that provides guidance & guardrails in implementing and maintaining Data services technologies as part of IT services and solutions.
  • Enabling technical assurance and compliance across various activities through establishment of build standards, license management, and KPI reporting tools.

Your new role:In this role you will work closely with the Infrastructure Engineer Manager to provide continuous services on a global level and supporting teams providing technical advisory, application support, help in developing architecture design patterns, technology-build standards, and operational process standards to ensure a unified global approach meets business requirements.You will:
  • Collaborate with peers and the Architecture team to define a strategic technology roadmap aligned with the global architecture vision.
  • Evaluate emerging and existing QBE database technologies, nurturing awareness of new enhancements and features.
  • Works with the Architecture community and other CoPs to evaluate and implement solutions and roadmaps.
  • Standardise support tools and techniques for key functions like monitoring, alerting, and backups.
  • Create tools, techniques, and processes for the DB Operational team to ensure real-time validation and technical assurance of new infrastructure.
  • Manage the DB license compliance and purchase requirements, sharing information with stakeholders.
  • Ensure security, confidentiality, and integrity of information systems through compliance with legislation and regulations, implementing necessary controls and management strategies.
  • Own diverse technical expertise including DevOps, troubleshooting, cloud computing, coding/scripting, and infrastructure engineering, along with strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Take ownership of technical problems, proactively resolving issues to ensure solutions meet business requirements.
  • Identify and analyse problems, prioritising them, documenting causes, and implementing remedies.
  • Focus on the entire lifecycle of service delivery, from design and development to delivery and operations, ensuring IT products and vendors work together effectively.
  • Demonstrate specialised knowledge necessary for fulfilling role responsibilities effectively.
  • Utilise lateral thinking to diagnose root causes of problems and troubleshoot across various technology capabilities, including compute, storage, networking, software, and cloud services.
Your story so farYou will have extensive experience in information security, expert at implementing security controls to mitigate threats. Your proficiency in system design ensures efficient resource usage and seamless integration of technologies. With strong troubleshooting skills across various domains, you possess a sound understanding of DevOps tools and database platforms including SQL, DB2 LUW, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB and Azure. You're proficient in Windows, UNIX/Linux, and AIX OS, with advanced scripting abilities and knowledge of database management tools and practices.You will have:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • 6 years relevant experience
  • Experience in advanced batch & PowerShell scripting
  • Knowledge of Database design, security and best practice housekeeping activities and release management skills
