See yourself in our team
We are a driven team who are responsible for the health and maintenance of the underlying mainframe z/OS DB2 databases.
Within this team you would play a key role in keeping the database in optimal state at all times. This will include working some non-standard hours on a rotating basis, and also providing some afterhours call-out support.
We are exclusively an IBM house for our tools and utilities and work closely with IBM to ensure we are adopting best practice and making use of the latest technology. For Enterprise mainframe we also use 3rd party DB2 products such as CA-Broadcom Platinum product suite.
We’re interested in hearing from people who
Pride themselves on defining and promoting best practices in terms of database design and implementation.
Are confident providing consultancy to our customers to ensure they get the best value from their investments in the platform.
Are knowledgeable in advising on performance tuning of the applications from a database code and design perspective
Are constantly providing input into architecture and design.
Have solid hands-on experience in developing in an agile manner and have made use of tools to support a dev ops style delivery on top of a standard SOE build
Are knowledgeable with the principles of database design, concurrency and issues affecting performance and scalability in a high volume OLTP environment
Tech skills
We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team;
SAP solutions where the database resides on the z/OS mainframe platform
IBM mainframe architecture including High Availability
z/OS coding skills such as REXX
Security and encryption implications within z/OS mainframe
SQL development
Understanding of coupling facility, DB2 lock structures, SMF records and how they can be used in incident diagnosis
DevOps experience and exposure to tools supporting project and implementation pipelines
