After a number of years of intensive product prototyping, development and testing, our focus is now on the design for at-scale manufacture and value engineering – and are looking for a full-time, experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in Rosebery.

ABOUT THE ROLECombining mechanical engineering design with hands-on testing and trialling of parts prior to finalising design for manufacturing, you will also work with our customers and the InvertiGro horticulture team to incorporate their feedback into our products.
Our current products use a combination of extrusion, rotomolding, vacuum forming and injection molding and sheet metal fabrication. As a technology and innovation focused company, we will continue to focus on product development across our business with a pipeline of new products simply waiting to be made into reality.
This is your opportunity to help shape a greener future:
- Drafting and designing product components and whole assemblies of new and existing InvertiGro product offerings in Solidworks.
- Hands-on prototyping, assembly and testing of components and systems.
- Trouble-shooting of failure modes and working to improve component and product performance through design improvements.
- Liaising with manufacturing partners to incorporate best practices for various manufacturing techniques and verify products meet the expected quality and performance standards.
- Developing concept sketches and technical product layouts.
- Developing production bill of materials and cost estimates.
- Collaboratively working to improve total BOM cost, including individual parts, sub-assemblies and final assembly.
- Whilst also improving functional performance, reliability, assembly time and accuracy.
ABOUT YOU
It is essential that you have:- Minimum 5 years relevant professional industry experience, including examples of in market products you have worked on
- Excellent knowledge of Solidworks and Solidworks PDM
- Experience with Solidworks simulation tools
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and problem-solving capabilities
- A self-starter, hands-on and team-player attitude
- Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency status.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications, such as in Industrial Design and/or Mechanical Engineering.
- A portfolio of product design work using various production techniques,
- Practical mechanical engineering and hands-on experience with both modern manufacturing and traditional workshop tools and techniques.
- Previous Mechanical Design consultancy experience
- Matlab and Simulink experience
- Demonstrated comfort working with customers and incorporating feedback into products.
- Experience with plastic injection moulding, rotomolding, vacuum forming and sheet metal techniques.
- An aptitude for coaching and mentoring junior team members.
