Senior Developer - Data Security

An exciting opportunity has become available for the right candidate to join our team at Blue Dog Training on a permanent full-time basis.
We are the original online trade training organisation, recognised as an Australian market leader in construction and engineering trades training. Since launching in 2005, we have been recognised at both the Queensland and Australian Training Awards for our outstanding contributions to innovating apprenticeship (trades) training solutions.
As the Senior Developer - Data Security, you will be responsible for designing and implementing rigorous security controls for data protection and leak prevention, information security engineering, and implementation of compliance with industry standards in addition to developing future digital training products and systems for the organisation. Your responsibilities will include:

• Creating complex, efficient and reliable modular code for high-quality, secure, and user-focussed solutions.
• Understanding of attacker activities, malware, attack vectors and financial transactions, successfully diagnose coding shortfalls and design secure system solutions to protect data.
• Contributing to ongoing security and continuous improvement of cloud-based applications and SDLC including AWS environments.
• Effectively document system setups (including code, functionality, and processes) and plans for security audits.
• Provide demonstrations and expert advice to the Executive Management Team and other clients, including strategy recommendations.
• Write high quality policies and procedures for end users, and operational coding information for the digital team
• Work collaboratively within an agile and self-organising scrum team to identify, plan, complete and report on progress for project deliverables.
• Continuous improvement of technology, web products, applications, and training delivery methods to ensure they meet changing needs are secure and are innovative.
• Coaching, supporting, and verifying code to support the team and contribute to a cohesive work environment.

To be considered for this role, you will need to demonstrate:

• University or tertiary qualifications in a relevant field plus at least 3 years relevant work experience
• Proven abilities with the following technologies:

o PHP (Symfony/Laravel)
o MySQL
o ReactJS/Elm, HTML/CSS3, JavaScript, build tools (Gulp/Webpack), Git, Amazon Web Services

• A proven ability to write clean, well-designed code
• A proven ability to troubleshoot and test software to ensure strong optimisation
• A proven ability to contribute to all phases of the software development lifecycle
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Experience working in agile/scrum teams

Your communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills to support positive working relationships with all stakeholders are also important, together with a current Working with Children Blue Card (or eligibility to secure this).
