Our Development Services team performs a critical role in delivering high quality planning services to facilitate positive development outcomes for our community.
The role:
As an experienced planning professional, you will have the capability to mentor, influence and inspire others, you will use your exceptional and professional skills and enthusiasm to work with our team and alongside the community, industry and other stakeholders, to facilitate positive development outcomes within Salisbury. Critical to your success in the role will be your excellent written and verbal communication skills, well-honed negotiation skills, demonstrated and informed decision making, and your ability to apply these skills in a pragmatic manner.
Duties:
- Partner with the Team Leader to coordinate the assessment of development applications, and allocate work to the broader team.
- Take a lead role in providing direction, support, guidance and mentoring to the team.
- Provide professional, specialist / expert advice to internal and external parties.
- Actively lead, problem solve, and influence continuous improvement initiatives to improve outcomes.
- High level negotiation and decision making responsibility on complex, controversial and significant development applications.
- Contribute to the forward planning and the development of strategies relevant to the team under the direction of the Assessment Manager.
- Promote and project the Council's image as an effective and efficient organisation, placing a strong emphasis on customer service and high quality outcomes.
Specialist Skills and Experience:
- A degree or post graduate qualification in Planning.
- Extensive knowledge of the relevant planning and development legislation and associated codes and standards.
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate outcomes on complex, controversial and significant development issues.
- The capability to mentor, train and develop others.
