The Opportunity
This is a permanent Senior Director-level leadership position managing a team of 4 direct reports and overseeing a larger Service Delivery unit of 25 staff. Your focus will be on managing outsourced waste and recycling contracts across 12 sites in the ACT worth $70 mill annually.
You will lead the delivery of contract performance and service excellence through KPI management, effective governance and performance monitoring of contracts and licences.
- Lead, inspire and provide strategic leadership to a large operational team across multiple sites. Your 4 direct reports are Directors with remits across Contract Management, WHS and operations management
- Make your own mark on the team’s strategic and contemporary approach to managing contract performance and Service Delivery KPIs
- Work to a high performing and respected Executive Branch Manager who encourages change and innovation
- You can see the tangible impact of your work given you’ll be facilitating the provision of a core service to the ACT community
Duties and responsibilities include:
- Lead a large operational team in the delivery of a wide range of sustainable outsourced waste management contracts, facilities and services; this includes creating an inspiring team environment with an open communication culture, establishing clear team goals, overseeing day-to-day operations, monitoring both team and individual performance, and identifying professional development opportunities to challenge and grow the team
- Provide expertise in leading negotiation strategies to achieve specific goals or objectives in making an agreement with another party. This includes fostering effective working relationships with key stakeholders and work collaboratively across functional areas to achieve outcomes
- Lead the delivery of contract performance and service excellence through effective and accountable governance arrangements, administration and performance management of contracts and licences
- Coordinate and review executive briefs, ministerial responses, operational reports, procurement and Contract Management documentation and contribute to strategic papers. This will include executing financial delegations in accordance with the Financial Management Act 1996 and ensuring Service Delivery is managed and maintained within the approved budgets
- Oversee the safety and risk management of the current services provided by the branch and the development of future service improvements and infrastructure management
The ideal candidate will have a background leading large operational teams in commercial Contract Management and Service Delivery environments.
It is not essential to have a waste management background. However, coming from a sector where you’ve been involved in providing services to the community will be highly regarded such as council work, roads, infrastructure, health and utilities.
Professional / Behavioural Skills:
- Demonstrated skills and knowledge in Service Delivery, asset management or infrastructure delivery.
- Demonstrated experience establishing and maintaining strategic relationships with industry and co-regulators to achieve excellence in delivery of services
- Proven strong understanding of the key commercial, financial, legal, technical, social and environmental drivers to achieve excellence in Service Delivery
- Demonstrated ability to apply sound judgement and deductive reasoning, to think broadly and critically to solve problems, and negotiation skills to drive good outcomes
You must hold a recognised qualification in one or more of the following fields:
- Engineering – a four-year degree or higher qualification and a minimum of ten years relevant experience in Engineering; or
- Architecture – a three-year degree or higher qualification and a minimum of ten years relevant experience in Architecture; or
- Project Management – either:
- a diploma in Project Management and a minimum of ten years relevant experience in project management; or
- certification by a professional body to the level of Certified Practicing Project Director (CPPD) or Certified Practicing Portfolio Executive (CPPE), in addition to a relevant degree or higher qualification issued and a minimum of ten years relevant experience in project management; or
- have at least 10 years relevant experience in project management.
Salary / Rate
- $187,632 + 11% super
