About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Disability Services Advisor to join the team and be the subject matter expert in administrative functions that support students with disabilities. You will be responsible for reporting, forecasting, and faculty and student liaison for the implementation of instrumental support which includes, equipment and services for educational adjustments for students. Under the direction of the Coordinator, Equity Advising and Disability Services, you will conduct reviews of ongoing support applications with Student Equity Advisors, Disability Services Specialists and Senior Student Inclusion Officers monitor and refine student communication and liaise with stakeholders for serviced delivery and improvements.Your responsibilities will include:
  • Proactively engage with registered students to implement instrumental services for students based on their Academic Adjustment Plan (AAP)
  • Liaising regularly with external disability service providers, such as Vision Australia, Auslan etc, to ensure effective and efficient service delivery meets the needs of students
  • Maintaining timely, accurate and complete records using administrative systems (CRM) for enquiries, bookings, and recording of case notes, reporting, and managing information in accordance with Privacy legislation and University policy and processes
  • Recruiting, training and coordinating the casual Academic Support Workers including shift allocation and rostering
Who we are looking for
Are you a skilled empathetic communicator, adept at supporting students to meet their academic and career goals? We're seeking someone with a demonstrated ability to engage sensitively with diverse students, including those with mental health issues and neurodiverse backgrounds. Your excellent interpersonal and communication skills, proactive outreach and strong problem-solving abilities and experience in policy application are essential for this role.You will also have:
  • A tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and/or relevant experience at a similar level. Experience in a related disability or tertiary education field is highly regarded
  • Demonstrated experience in writing and maintaining case notes and writing reports
  • Experience managing a casual workforce and maintaining compliance with University policy and Fairwork
  • Knowledge of the application of technologies to support students with disabilities and experience in training others for their implementation and use
You may be required to travel to and work across campuses when necessary and non-standard work hours may be required from time to time.For further information regarding responsibilities and requirements please refer to the attached PD.This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University.
