It was established with a key goal; to help people with a disability live their very best lives. Step As One Disability Services provides a variety of services to NDIS participants who have complex disability needs, including Specialist Support Coordination, Supported Independent Living, Core Support, Forensic Intervention Services & Positive Behaviour Support. With demand increasing, an opportunity has become available for a suitably qualified/experienced Behaviour Support Practitioner. Full time or part time (3 days per week minimum) will be considered. This is a hybrid role and will involve a combination of working from home and meeting face-to-face with NDIS participants in the South-East suburbs of Melbourne. Endorsement as a core practitioner or higher by the NDIS Quality & Safeguards Commission is mandatory for this position. Salary will be negotiated depending upon experience.
Qualifications & experience
- Endorsement as a core practitioner or higher by the NDIS Quality & Safeguarding Commission is mandatory for this role
- Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Special Education, or a related field.
- Proven experience working with people with disabilities, neurodivergent people, and those who have mental health issues.
- In-depth knowledge of evidence-based practices in Behaviour Support and interventions.
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care and its application
Tasks & responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive functional behaviour assessments to holistically understand the person with a disability
- Develop personalised and evidence-based Behaviour Support strategies and Behaviour Support plans, focusing on promoting positive outcomes.
- Utilise trauma-informed practices.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of strategies/ interventions, adjusting as needed to achieve optimal results and outcomes.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure an integrated approach to support.
- Advocate for the rights and dignity of people with a disability, working to avoid/reduce restrictive practices.
