Access theJoining this team, you will provide wholistic case management review, triaging and coordination of DNA sample submission to FSQ Forensic Biology, provide support and guidance to QPS personnel and manage the delivery of items to interstate and international forensic experts. This unit also underpins positive relationships between stakeholders performing a critical liaison link between police and FSQ scientists to support courts of law and the community.The core capability requirements for this role are:
- Close liaison with the senior investigators and DNA laboratory scientists in support of investigative outcomes.
- Research and analyse complex investigations and contribute to the development of forensic examination strategies, with a focus on identifying opportunities afforded through DNA testing including advancements in this area of forensic science.
- Critically analyse relevant information relating to major crime investigations with a view to the prioritisation and allocation of available DNA testing resources.
- Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders in the pursuit of forensic evidence pertaining to unsolved major crime investigations.
- Prepare timely and well-researched submissions, briefs, notes and correspondence in relation to testing strategies for the information of senior management, FSG and senior investigators.
- Prioritise and triage DNA testing based on assessment of case importance and sample probity.
- Supervise members of the DNA Management Section including setting work priorities and monitoring performance.
- Experience as a forensic officer or criminal investigator is highly desirable.
- The successful applicant/s will be required to undergo psychometric assessment, prior to appointment.
