Job description

The purpose of this role is to enable Surveyor-General Victoria to support major government land reform projects and related business dealings by providing plan and survey services.
The role requires a sound knowledge of Victoria's cadastral and land information systems, land surveying and advanced capability with CAD software packages, to support the Senior Surveyors in the delivery of plan and surveying services for a variety of plans in the Crown and freehold domains relating to cadastral surveying, land tenure and government land dealings/projects.
The Land Reform Projects section of Surveyor-General Victoria (SGV) provides plan and land surveying services for specific Government land reform projects. Working with project partners, the team is responsible for investigating land tenure and parcel definition matters to support the delivery of projects of State significance. Current projects include the Great Ocean Road Management Reform, Immediate Protections Areas and the creation of new parks in Victoria's Central West.
Specialist/Technical Expertise/Qualifications
* Tertiary qualification in Geomatics or equivalent (surveying, cartography, or GIS) is preferred together with a minimum of four years' experience in that field is highly desirable.
* A sound knowledge of Victoria's Crown survey requirements, land information records and related surveying regulatory processes to enable the complete mathematical and cadastral re-establishment examination of Crown Survey documentation.
* Understands and uses a wide range of software applications for word processing, email, and computer-aided drafting with a high-level knowledge of ‘MicroStation' and ArcGIS.
This is a fixed term position available until 30 September 2025. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria.
