ABOUT THE ROLE
People, Culture and Standards works in partnership with all entities within the Department and beyond to instil a values-based culture. It is the custodian of the Department’s integrity framework which provides an integrated governance approach to protect the Department’s integrity, expose and prevent misconduct, corruption, fraud and theft. This is achieved through robust integrity programs, by, developing strategic risk mitigation plans and by implementing best practice controls.
Drug and Alcohol Testing (DAT) forms part of Management, Engagement and Intervention with primary responsibility for managing and delivering alcohol and drug testing functions to identify behavioural issues, and trends of alcohol and substance abuse through alerts, risk assessments and examination of profiles of employees in custodial environments.
The Senior Drug and Alcohol Testing (DAT) Officer is responsible for administering drug and alcohol tests on specified employees in accordance with relevant legislation and departmental policy and procedures and support the Lead DAT Officer in the provision of evidence-based specimen collection.
- Provide support and when necessary, represent as an expert witness in any staff matter relating to drugs and alcohol.
- Provide support in the design of training requirements for DAT in accordance with legislative requirements and departmental policies and procedures.

APPLICATION PROCESS
Eligibility to Apply:
- Ability to complete the Qualification HLTPAT005 ‘Collect specimens for drugs of abuse testing’.
- It is a requirement that the position holder is successful in obtaining and maintaining a NEGATIVE VETTING LEVEL ONE security clearance for the duration of their appointment in the position. Only Australian Citizens are eligible to hold the NEGATIVE VETTING LEVEL ONE security clearance.
- Ability to travel intrastate on a regular (sometimes twice per month) and on occasion, urgent basis, and to be able to stay for varying and extended periods away from the Perth CBD.
- Ability to work outside ordinary office hours, including afternoon shifts and weekend shifts, in accordance with the relevant Industrial Agreement.
- The position holder must hold a current and valid ‘C’ or ‘C-A’ class driver’s licence or equivalent.

Pool Recruitment
This pool will be open for a period of 12 months from the day after the breach of standard claim period closes. Permanent, fixed term, full time and part time appointments may be offered as vacancies arise; however, an appointment is not guaranteed.
