Sitting within the Renewables & Distributed Energy group, the Senior Electrical Connection Engineer is responsible for providing technical leadership as part of an expert team that delivers complex network stability and planning assessments of all new major loads, generators, and dynamic plant connected to the EQL network. You would play a key role in managing the energy transition to renewables and the integration of network owned power electronics including batteries.What does this look like day to day?You will be collaborating with key stakeholders, customers, and consultancies during key milestones, including supporting with the connection application, generator registration process, and the commissioning phase. This will include reviewing submissions, documentation, and dynamic models before completing your own independent assessment to ascertain whether they meet performance standards and regulations.You will be performing complex network analysis, assessing performance against regulatory requirements, supporting the development and evolution of policy, process, and regulation.With flexi-working and a 9 or 10 day fortnight in place, the bottom of the salary band from starts from $164,752 for 9 days and $186,170 for 10 days + 12.75% superannuation. The level of payment will be subject to an assessment of the successful applicant’s knowledge, skills and competencies that are required in this position. Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Energy Queensland Union Collective Agreement 2020.For more information about this role, click on the position description link located at the bottom of the page.About You:In addition to your Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering, you will also hold a RPEQ (or equivalent). You have a strong understanding of National Electricity Rules and the regulations we work within, as well as understanding the construction, maintenance, and operation of electricity distribution assets and systems.You will have experience with power system analysis packages such as PSS/E and PSCAD, and have experience with generator compliance, connection processes, and network planning studies.Finally, you have proven ability to communicate and negotiate effectively.What matters most to us is our values, We’re Safe – We Belong – We Grow – We Deliver.
