This is an excellent opportunity to utilise your analytical interpretation to shape the future of Energy Transformation in South Australia. Due to significant increase in both renewables and demand for power, we have an opportunity for a Senior Energy Economist in a full-time position to join ElectraNet's Network Planning team. You will specialise in power system planning and the economic assessment of network performance.
In this role you will:
- Planning analysis, including economic market assessment of the development of the grid and the assessment of individual projects
- Assessment of the inputs to economic models that covers existing and emerging generator costs, demand forecasting that explores and reveals new customer preferences
- Development and maintenance of economic models, including quality assurance of outputs to support investment in billion dollar projects
- Proactively explore costs and benefits of all existing and emerging generation technologies and changing customer preference
- Gain exposure to concepts and practices at the technical forefront of the High Voltage Electrical Engineering profession
You'll have an analytical mind and strong written and verbal communication ability which enables you to clearly articulate your ideas and engage with peers for collaboration. Together we will generate robust, pragmatic solutions, in a complex, technical environment.
In addition, you'll possess:
- A minimum of 10 years' experience, and demonstrated capability in an Engineering, Teaching or Research (energy economics) related role
- Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering, Economics or relevant discipline
- Understanding and application of physics and mathematical principles in conducting system planning and operational support
- The application of engineering analytical techniques planning, system design and operational support
- Advanced analytical interpretation and problem-solving skills
- Experience with PSS/E, PSCAD, PowerFactory and other specialist analysis tools
- Eligibility for membership to Engineer's Australia or professional association
