THE ROLE
This position is responsible for taking a leading role in the generator commissioning, monitoring and analysis of generator non-compliances, and provision of recommendations for high voltage transmission system developments to ensure the strategies and objectives are met.
Working across the Network business unit, the Senior Engineer will author or review robust technical reports and procedures, coordinate and lead various generator connection projects, and streamline generator commissioning processes.
EXPERIENCE, BUSINESS AND TECHNICAL SKILLS
- Sound understanding of Electrical Engineering principles, NER, GPS, generator protection, SCADA, and experience in generation, transmission or a similar role.
- Experience in testing and commissioning of synchronous and/or asynchronous generators, with a particular emphasis on GPS compliance and R2 model validation.
- Lead investigations, studies and find solutions with the support from other stakeholders.
- Ability to perform R0, R1 and R2 model validation, test plan review, HP test report review and other technical note review.
- Review of generator commissioning processes, policies and guidelines to achieve improved team performance.
- Experience with PSS/E, PSCAD, PowerFactory software and power system modelling experience will be an advantage.
ABOUT YOU
- Tertiary qualifications at degree level in an appropriate discipline, or equivalent relevant experience Extensive experience in generator commissioning.
- Communicate effectively with a range of persons including customers, suppliers, contractors, other technical experts and senior management (written and verbal)
- Knowledge on NER s5.2.5. and managing 50MW + projects.
- Substantial experience in the legislation and technical standards guiding system planning Comprehensive understanding of risk management qualitative and quantitative.
- Excellent knowledge of electrical networks engineering and operations.
- Well-developed people and service management skills.
- Excellent written communications skills for persuasive reports and submissions.
- Well-developed analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills.
- Skills and performance in change management.
- You must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident to be considered.
