Sunlover Reef Cruises is seeking a highly motivated and certified Class 3 engineer to join our marine engineering team as 2IC to our Fleet Engineer.
About Us:
Sunlover Reef Cruises operates daily from Cairns to Fitzroy Island and Moore Reef, offering guests a complete reef tourism experience. Our team is renowned for excellence, providing glass bottom and semi-submersible boat tours, guided snorkelling interpretive tours, introductory and certified diving, Seawalker helmet diving, and helicopter reef scenic flights.
Position Overview:
As the 2IC Marine Engineer, you will play a vital role in the maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of our fleet vessels, auxiliary vessels, and pontoon. Working closely with a small team of marine engineers and our crew of around 30 each day, you will ensure the smooth operation and safety of our marine assets.
Essential Skills:
Class 3 qualification essential, with a trade background preferably in mechanical engineering. AMSA qualifications are advantageous.
Extensive maritime engineering experience and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
Proficiency in maintenance, repairs, and planned upkeep of records.
Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to work closely with the vessel's Captain and report to management.
Adherence to company operating standards and a commitment to safety.
Location and Working Conditions:
This position is based in Cairns and does not offer fly-in-fly-out arrangements. Flexibility is required to work weekends and public holidays to accommodate operational needs.
