Responsible and progressive ESG practices are integral to the Northern Star business.Northern Star has a challenging and rewarding opportunity for a Senior Environmental Advisor to join our Carosue Dam Operations on a an 8:6 roster. Reporting to Environment Manager, Senior Environmental Advisor, is responsible for reviewing and developing our approval and applications strategy. In conjunction with the business, they play a key hands-on role in coordinating the approval processes across our Australian Operations.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- • Ensuring the site is compliant with all applicable environmental and heritage legislation, as well as all related approvals, permits and licences.
• Drive best practise on site with regards to environmental management.
• Manage on-site monitoring programs.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies as required for audits, inspections and approvals.
• Manage surveys required to support environmental approvals or compliance reporting.
• Manage the reporting and investigation of environmental incidents.
• Support the implementation of the Company's Environmental Management System, including liaise with the Corporate Office with regards to internal audits.
• Manage the provision of site data for input to the Company's Annual Sustainability Report.
• Coordinate all approval applications and compliance reporting to regulators, with support from the Corporate Office.
• Review internal clearing permits and provide advice with regards to all land disturbance works.
• Assis the Projects Team on environmental matters during the planning, operation and closure stages.
• Deliver environmental training and awareness programs.
• Guide and train Graduate and Vacation students as required.
Required skills and experience:
- Well-established experience in a similar role, accompanied by relevant tertiary qualification
- Proven track record with WA environmental approval process and statutory reporting
- Demonstrated knowledge of environmental legislation related to the mining industry
- A high level of computer literacy with a very good understanding of EM data systems and related technical programs
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with internal and external stakeholders; and
- Current Australian drivers' licence.
