The Senior Environmental Compliance Advisor, as part of the Exploration Approvals Team, will monitor and manage compliance with Programme of Work Approvals and Tenement Conditions.
The role will include working with Exploration, Strategic Planning and Studies to ensure awareness of environmental obligations and develop management strategies when working under Exploration-stage environmental approvals.
The role includes leading site-based audits to ensure works conducted are in line with approvals obtained and compliant with tenement conditions.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure all exploration environmental approval obligations are met through identifying key risks and developing controls
- Working with site teams to develop and enact strategies to ensure compliance
- Undertaking tenement conditions compliance audits across both operational and exploration sites
- Lead engagement with Regulators for Environmental Compliance and incident reporting
- Undertake site travel to improve education and awareness of compliance responsibilities
- Ensure all environmental approvals-related reportable incidents are investigated and appropriately communicated to government agencies
- Review and provide comment on environmental approval documentation, management plans and procedures
- Assist with the review and compilation of required figures for the Mining Rehabilitation Fund
- 5-10 years experience in an Environmental Approvals role in Exploration, Mining, or Government sectors
- High level understanding of current legislative requirements in regards to environmental approvals processes (with a particular focus on Exploration)
- Previous experience in auditing and leading incident investigations (5 Whys, ICAM)
- Sound knowledge of Environmental Legislation (particularly Mining Act, RiWI Act and EP Act)
- Ability to work individually as well as involving others during on site and audit work
- Strong GIS skills and familiarity with databases (ag AcQuire)
- A sound knowledge of the Mining Rehabilitation Fund
