Senior Environmental Consultant

We are working with a leading and innovative engineering and environmental consultancy, who for more than 10+ years have partnered with a range of public and private clients to deliver a range of services across environmental management, civil services, water resources planning, water management and more.  

The Opportunity

With a growing NSW presence, our client is looking to add a Senior Environmental Specialist to their Sydney CBD or Newcastle office. Reporting to the Discipline Lead for Environmental Management, Compliance and Approvals, you will contribute to the planning, develop and implementation of environmental management solutions for public and private clients. You will also have a part to play in business development and team building, assisting in the growth of the discipline. 

What you will be responsible for:

Manage live projects to ensure they are completed on time and on budget, whilst having input to proposals and business growth to keep a steady pipeline. This will include internal collaboration and external stakeholder engagement to meet client expectations. Day-to-day tasks could include:

• Coordinate environmental assessments, approvals and compliance deliverables to various clients and industries
• Utilise risk-based framework and operational experience to drive improved, practical and sustainable outcomes for clients
• Support the coaching, development and resourcing of team members
• Play an active role in the business growth through regular client engagement, business planning and delivery. 
• Opportunities for site travel and exposure to private sector, resource industries and government stakeholders

About You

• Bachelors qualifications in environmental science, engineering, civil or related field.
• A minimum of 5 years experience in environmental management and approvals, with government or infrastructure experience highly desirable. 
• A detailed knowledge and application of environmental regulations, standards and practices, with NSW legislation knowledge being advantageous. 
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively engage and influence
• Experience in report writing, technical review, project management, and the management of junior specialists.
