Want to work in a fast-paced central agency supporting Senior Executives as they provide advice to the Prime Minister, other Portfolio Ministers and Cabinet?
We have an exciting opportunity to work as the Executive Assistant to the Deputy Secretary, International and Security. The International and Security Group provides whole of government advice on ways to enhance the security and prosperity of all Australians. We coordinate and lead whole of government efforts to progress Australia’s national interest across the Government's national security and international policy priorities.
The Group advises the Prime Minister on Australia’s international agenda, foreign policy, aid and specialised international economic interests in close collaboration with colleagues across PM&C and other agencies. The Group supports the Prime Minister’s engagement with foreign leaders and international institutions and supports Cabinet’s consideration of International and Security matters.
This is an opportunity for someone who excels at working with limited supervision. The role is fast paced, and you will play an important role providing high-level executive support services.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective management of the office including:
- The provision of high-level executive support services including diary management and associated meeting and briefing arrangements, travel co-ordination and group financial management support,
- Centralised management of incoming correspondence, appointment requests and telephone calls, providing a professional front door experience for stakeholders,
- Establishing and maintaining strong internal and external stakeholder relationships, including with Ministers’ offices and senior members of the International and national security communities,
- Providing guidance and support on a range of strategic coordination and support activities,
- Working with the Executive Officer to ensure the Deputy Secretary’s office is run effectively and efficiently and that high level support is provided to the Deputy Secretary,
- Working as part of the Executive Team that supports the Secretary and our Deputy Secretaries, and
- Coordinating and overseeing executive support services across the Group, including supporting and guiding other Executive Assistants within the Group.
We are seeking a candidate with the following:
- Experience in providing high-level executive support services to senior managers and the ability to establish strong relationships and to develop effective networks,
- Demonstrated resilience and a proven capacity to succeed in a fast-paced environment with limited supervision,
- A high level of professionalism, judgement, discretion and interpersonal skills,
- Good written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to liaise and engage with a broad range of domestic and international stakeholders, and
- An ability to anticipate stakeholder needs, both internally and externally, and the ability to use initiative.
