An opportunity is available for an experienced administrative professional to perform the role of Executive Assistant to the Associate Secretaryof the Department of Defence. As the Executive Assistant, you will play a pivotal and trusted role in the provision of administrative support to the Associate Secretary.
The Executive Assistant deals directly with the Associate Secretary to effectively ‘manage the day’. This includes managing diary and commitments, email correspondence, tasking across the department, and preparation of papers and administrative support to meetings throughout the day.

You will need to be comfortable working independently and exercise sound judgement to proactively anticipate the Associate Secretary’s requirements, and resolve issues. A strong attention to detail will be critical in this regard, as well as preparedness to methodically work through all the administrative detail around the Associate Secretary’s commitments to ensure all meetings and engagements are seamlessly conducted.
Candidates will be self-aware, with a positive attitude, demonstrating consideration and respect for a diversity of ideas and perspectives of others. You will have a demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders at all levels and excel at building and maintaining stakeholder relationships within public and private sector, with ministers, parliamentarians and their offices.
The Associate Secretary’s Office is a fast-paced environment, requiring resilience, proactivity and responsiveness. You will be responsible for the handling and protection of highly sensitive information. Some out-of-hours work can be expected.
