About the Role:The Senior Executive Officer - Education Strategy, Policy, Planning and Improvement partners with the Academic Operations (AO), the Curriculum Innovations and Teaching Excellence (CITE), the Student Engagement International and Community Partnerships (SEICP) staff and other key stakeholders to implement relevant objectives across the Melbourne Polytechnic Strategic Plan.
This role is responsible for providing strong leadership to the Melbourne Polytechnic staff through leading innovation and strategic practices to ensure the delivery of excellent learning experiences that develop skills and capabilities valued by industry and community.
Duties:- Lead the implementation of the relevant Objectives and activities within Melbourne Polytechnic’s Strategy, in alignment with MP’s Education Principles, Blended Learning Standards, Quality Standards for Melbourne Polytechnic Courses, MP’s digital strategy and other related MP standards and frameworks.
- Lead and support implementation of key objectives and initiatives in the Melbourne Polytechnic Education and Student Experience Plan including:
- Oversee Education and Student Experience Plan implementation, reporting, and governance.
- Support the development of the Academic Directorate supporting Educational Plans.
- Development and monitoring of strategic performance measurement.
- Lead and manage key initiatives of the Education and Student Experience Plan.
- In collaborations with the Executive Leadership Team and Melbourne Polytechnic’s senior leadership team, lead and/or support the implementation of the MP Strategic Plan.
- Effectively contribute to the CITE and Academic Operations leadership teams, ensuring a collaborative and effective work environment that reflects the values of MP and delivers on the outcomes of the groups.
- Provide timely, strategic and high-quality expert advice on a range of complex matters to the Executive Director Academic Operations to enable fully informed decision making on the delivery of education improvement projects and initiatives to meet Melbourne Polytechnic’s strategic plan objectives.
- Co-ordinate the development and implementation of education policies and procedures to ensure that clear protocols and operational guidelines are established and communicated to appropriate users and key stakeholders.
- Provide effective leadership to ensure that staff are actively implementing the full suite of Institute policies and procedures, in particular, Occupational Health & Safety and Anti-discrimination.
- Audit current MP policy and procedures to identify gaps and conduct research and benchmarking into relevant policies and procedures required for ensuring MP provides student-centred services while meeting all legislative requirements.
- Engage stakeholders and lead the development of relevant operating systems to meet the needs across the VET, HE, Foundation and International Academic Directorates.
- Promote and support the adoption of Melbourne Polytechnic’s Blended Learning Operating System to enable the design and delivery of blended learning experiences that are engaging and inspiring, contemporary, high quality and industry connected.
- Design and implement continuous improvement approaches consistent with internal expectations to create a culture of high performance and meet the operational and strategic goals of the organisation.
- Lead initiatives which support the continuous improvement of student experience and graduate outcomes across the VET, HE, Foundation and International Academic Directorates.
- Prepare and provide relevant reports for the Board, and its committees, and other Melbourne Polytechnic Academic Boards and Committees and where agreed with the Executive Director, Academic Operations, attend and contribute to Board and committee meetings.
- Establish and implement data-informed decision-making processes and practices that ultimately improve the learning experience and learning outcomes for Melbourne Polytechnic students.
- Report on progress and outcomes through determined Governance and reporting channels.
- Bachelor or Masters (desirable) in a relevant discipline or equivalent related experience.
- Experience leading and managing a range of strategic projects from problem definition to implementation.
- Demonstrated excellent and highly effective communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills including the ability to build credibility and influence with senior leaders.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and lead significant cultural and organisational change to a large and diverse group of staff.
- Demonstrated ability to produce concise, practical, and evidence-based written reports and presentations and to clearly communicate to a variety of audiences.
- Experience in leading the development and review of policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines within a complex, high pressure and changing environment and a commitment to the principles of continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated knowledge of understanding the Education sector including a high level of understanding of government policy and processes, desirable.
- Extensive knowledge of current issues, regulatory requirements and/or changes in vocational education and training and Higher Education, desirable.
