The Role
The Senior Executive Officer (SEO), WA provides services to Fellows and Trainees at regional level. In particular the SEO provides support and guidance in implementing the College’s education program and provision of continuing professional development, as well as supporting delivery of policy development and advocacy to the State Committees.
The SEO is responsible for:
- Managing the WA state office in Perth.
- Ensuring events and committees are run professionally e.g. attending State Committees and other meetings as required, to provide advice and reports.
- Providing secretariat services to committees.
- Leading the establishment of new forms of Fellow-involvement in education and at the state level e.g. new forms of advisory groups or committees.
- Acting as a key channel of communications between the College and the Fellows and trainees in WA.
- Undertaking College approved projects.
- Preparing reports, submissions and other documents, including conducting qualitative and quantitative research as required.
- Coordinating State strategies and operations consistent with National strategies.
- Managing State Office Budget.
- Actively seeking opportunities to advance the aims and goals of the College within WA.
- Developing and managing staff, both day-to-day and through the College’s performance management system.
To Be Successful
To be successful in the role, you will possess the following skills and attributes:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in health, management or relevant field, OR equivalent experience
- Knowledge or experience working in the field of medical workforce and training.
- Experience in effective management of a small team, with a commitment to performance improvement.
- Experience delivering Secretariat services to Committees, including agenda, minutes and action point follow up.
- Proven high level planning, written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to foster strong cooperative working relationships with stakeholders.
- Project management skills delivering competing priorities on time, on budget and to the satisfaction of key stakeholders.
- Demonstrated financial management skills.
