On behalf of our clients, we are now accepting applications for a full time, permanent Senior Station Hand on an aggregation of 15,000-acres of blue-ribbon Central Queensland country 20 minutes to the northwest of Bauhinia. This pivotal role is now vacant within a family owned and operated cattle enterprise who are passionately dedicated to breeding and backgrounding some 3,000 head of a composite herd consisting of Droughtmaster, Santa Gertrudis & Charolais cattle for the feedlot market within Central Queensland.
Reporting directly to the owner, the Senior Station Hand’s position will provide an ambitious and driven employee the opportunity to essentially spearhead operations of the company’s main backgrounding property. The role calls for autonomy and a desirable commitment to the cattle company all the while providing the successful candidate the opportunity to join a progressive leader that’s dedicated to making a significant impact on the Australian beef industry.
Duties including but not limited to:
- Collaborate with the owner to plan and execute weekly operations, including land and livestock management.
- Ensure efficiency and productivity of daily property operations while fostering a positive work culture.
- Oversee the day to day running of the property and cattle work.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to health of the herd and health and safety in all aspects of the operation.
- To undertake occasional travel to neighboring properties within the aggregation will be required for mustering and cattle work at various times.
- To bring prior experience at a leadership level within a prior cattle managerial role.
- To demonstrate excellent cattle management and animal husbandry skills and validate an overall passion for the Australian beef industry.
- To possess the overall capabilities to work autonomously to plan, organise and execute daily operations on the property including stock data recording and reporting.
- To demonstrate excellent communication skills and speak with the owner on a regular basis at any given time when required.
- To demonstrate natural horsemanship qualities that come as expected within a senior livestock role such as this. Working dogs are utilised and the successful candidate should be capable of working them well. While it is favorable to supply stock horses and working dogs, it is not essential.
- To capably carry out property infrastructure and development works in addition to ongoing maintenance and repairs such as machinery operating, fencing, and stock watering points in addition to bringing a sound mechanical maintenance skill set and welding ability to the position.
- To hold a HR truck licence as a minimum level requirement.
- A negotiable gross annual remuneration will be discussed upon application and will ultimately be based on experience and skill brought to the position.
- Casual work for a partner may be available dependant on prior experience.
- Very nice 3-bedroom home situated on the property within 20 minutes’ drive of Bauhinia. Access to a primary school bus travelling to Bauhinia (no local high school access). Artesian water supply ensures consistent supply.
