Our client is an Australian owned and operated exploration and production company supplying to Australian energy markets. The company holds a portfolio of gas supply contracts and one of the most extensive portfolios of gas-focused acreage and assets in the South-east Australian energy sector, including well located reserves and resources in the Otway and Gippsland basins. Due to recent structural changes to their head office finance division in Adelaide, they are now seeking an experienced Senior Finance Business partner with strong relationship building skills to join their team.

Your new role
Reporting to the Finance Manager, this position is responsible for delivering accurate and timely financial reporting to ensure all finance related reporting and budgeting processes are successfully managed and coordinated across the organisation. Key accountabilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Preparation of monthly journals, account reconciliations, and other requisite management reporting
• Preparation of annual and half-year financial report and financial information
• Assist the Finance Manager in preparation of Board reporting and technical accounting papers
• Active management of G&A costs across all cost centres including forecasting and cost recovery process
• Coordinate annual tax return completion with external advisors
• Provide input into operated joint venture accounting and reporting in accordance with JVOAs
• Assist with the treasury functions of the business
• Ensure financial compliance and professional standards

What you'll need to succeed
The successful candidate will possess a demonstrated background in a true Business Partnering capacity, requiring refined influencing and communication skills. Additional technical skills and criteria include:

• Experience in the full range of financial accounting activities, including general accounting, financial analysis and reporting
• Broad understanding of tax legislation and ability to recognise potential tax issues
• Involvement in preparation of financial statements for an ASX listed company an advantage
• Demonstrated competence in ERP/accounting systems and strong Excel skills
• External audit background highly regarded
• Experience in Oil and Gas sector is highly regarded
• Degree qualifications in a relevant discipline (Commerce, Business, Law, Engineering) and CA/CPA qualifications desirable
