The Role
The Senior Financial Accountant role is designed to support the daily functions and responsibilities of the wider Lumino Finance Team, to ensure accurate and relevant reporting. This role is required to work closely with the Finance Team, Property & Procurement, IT, Financial Planning & Analysis and Practice Support Teams. Other key relationships also include the Practice and Regional Managers throughout Lumino.
Responsibilities
- Perform allocated month-end processes and journals as per the month-end timetable, which includes part of the following:
- Accruals
- Prepayments
- Intercompany
- Expense allocations
- Fixed Assets
- The month end tasks will be split between the finance team members; the SFA is expected to guide more junior members in completing their tasks
- Consolidation of Lumino and Kidz Teeth
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations for allocated accounts
- Assist the Accounting Manager and Financial Controller in presenting monthly results
- Provide meaningful analysis and commentary on variances against budget or historical trend
- Investigate and correct any errors proactively
- Recently acquired 20+ Bupa practices, rebranded to Abano NZ; which are currently in the process of amalgamation into the Lumino entity
- Implement and perform monthly processes and reconciliations for Abano NZ; suggest improvements and streamline processes
- Handle intercompany and payroll recharges and reallocations
- Investigate and understand historical / inherited balances, and suggest correction journals where applicable
- Manage tax related calculations and compliance including:
- Income tax
- GST
- PAYE
- FBT
- and any other tax related matters
- Liaise with other departments regarding practice acquisitions / closures and the assumed exposure or accounting impact
- Identify the necessary information and/or actions required and perform in a timely manner
- Implementation and maintenance of appropriate internal controls
- Manage the financial year end and audit process to ensure financial reporting and audit requirements are met
- Provide information and support to the different teams within the business as required
- Provide coaching / guidance to juniors within the accounting team and the wider finance team
- Other ad hoc tasks as required and as directed
Experience & Qualifications & Person
Essential
- Relevant tertiary qualification
- At least three (3) years' experience as a Financial Accountant or similar role
- Fully qualified accountant in a recognized international body e.g., CA ANZ
- Strong understanding and working knowledge of business processes and internal controls
- Able to work effectively both in a team environment and autonomously
- Proactive and deadline driven
- Good interpersonal and relationship management skills, with internal and external stakeholders
- Good communication skills both oral and written, with strong attention to detail
- Continuous improvement mindset - challenge the status quo and suggest practical solutions and improvements
- High degree of computer literacy and good Excel skills
Desirable
- Commercial experience
- Health/dental industry experience
- Advanced Excel knowledge
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Navision
