As the Senior Financial Modeling Specialist you will play a vital role in supporting the development of business cases for a number of different Mine Expansion Projects (MEP) and sustaining projects through the constructing, updating and analysing of financial models related to these projects.
The role will be reporting to the Manger Decision Evaluation and Analysis within the Iron Ore Commercial team.
Responsibilities include:
• Prepare investment appraisals using financial techniques such as DCF, NPV and IRR
• Collaborate and work closely with cross functional teams to gather project data, assumptions, and market insights
• Maintain a working knowledge of the market relevant to SIMEC Mining products
• Develop and maintain calculations supporting forecasts in real and nominal
• Audit models to ensure relevance and validation of results
• Identify and evaluate potential risks and opportunities within financial models
• Control the consolidation model and individual business models for IO Ports and Coal
• Maintain and control the sustain commercial model template as well as provide training to model usersAbout your experience
We are looking for someone that has a strong analytical mindset, is a problem solver and has as the ability to build robust financial models that can address any immediate challenges but also prevent the emergence of new issues.
You will bring:
• Tertiary qualification in either Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field
• CPA/CA/CFA qualification highly regarded
• Minimum 5 plus years relevant financial / accounting experience
• Strong experience in Financial Modelling, preferably in the mining sector
• Mining experience preferred and highly regarded
• Excellent Excel knowledge and skills
• Experience with developing and delivering insightful presentations
• Effective communication skills and the ability to interact with a diverse range of stakeholders
• Strong knowledge of Accounting concepts related to hard rock miningAbout our team
