Our client is seeking a temporary Senior Financial Services Officer (Expenditure) with a high level of knowledge of contemporary accounting principles and practices and have developed experience in a financial administration position with a commercial or local government authority with exposure to functions relevant to this position.About the role:
A high-level knowledge of contemporary accounting principles and practices with developed experience in a financial administration position with a commercial or local government authority with exposure to complex areas such as budget preparation, budget management, accounts payable/receivable, assets, stock control, benchmarking system reviews and GST/FBT compliance is essential.
Position Objectives:
- Assist the Financial Controller and Manager Financial Services in the preparation and review of budgets
- Ensure the City’s financial service systems are efficient, effective and dynamic
- Ensure compliance of all relevant accounting standards and other statutory and financial requirements
- Provide advice on complex finance related issues to the organisation
- Take responsibility for the Accounts Payable, Assets and other expenditure related finance activities
- Must have experience in using 'Authority'
- A high level of numeracy and computer literacy with developed Microsoft Excel skills is essential.
- A high level of interpersonal, organisational and communication skills is essential.
- An Undergraduate Degree level qualification in Accounting or Finance is essential.
- Membership or progressing towards achieving membership of Certified Practising Accountants (CPA)/Chartered Accountants (CA) desirable
