About the RoleThe ABC has a unique opportunity for a Freedom of Information specialist to join the tight-knit ABC FOI team on a permanent ongoing basis.As a Commonwealth Corporation, the ABC receives FOI requests seeking access to documents that may be held by the ABC. The
Senior FOI Officer role provides high-level support to the delegated FOI decision-makers in relation to discharging the ABC's obligations under the Freedom of Information Act (Cth) 1982 (the FOI Act). You will work with another
Senior FOI Officer to coordinate the ABC's responses to incoming FOI applications, prepare responses to the regulator (the OAIC), and ensure compliance with the ABC's statutory and reporting requirements.
About YouWith demonstrated high-level knowledge of the Commonwealth FOI Act or equivalent, and proven FOI processing experience essential, you will be an effective multi-tasker with a proactive work approach and an ability to meet multiple overlapping deadlines.To be successful in this role you will also bring:
- demonstrated extensive administrative and organisational skills, including the capacity to prioritise and effectively manage workflow, and output of a high volume of information.
- outstanding interpersonal and communication skills including a customer service ethos and the ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with team members and a wide range of stakeholders whilst maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
- the ability to train ABC colleagues on the requirements of the FOI Act
- demonstrated high level proficiency with a broad range of computer-based technologies and PC applications is desirable.
