-This is a Fixed Term Part Time appointment for twelve months at 30.4 hours per fortnight (0.4 FE), with the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency.VCID No. 892969Position Profile: We are seeking an experienced and motivated person to join our team at the Rare Care Centre - the Clinical Centre of Expertise for Rare and Undiagnosed Diseases - located at Perth Children's Hospital.As a Senior Genetic Counsellor, you will be responsible for the provision of advanced genetic counselling services to the public. You will assist in the training and education of staff and members of community services and provide advice and expertise to Program Directors regarding clinical service delivery.Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Provide a specialist genetic counselling service and consultation to an allocated service and to other clinical staff and community colleagues.
  • Liaise with staff and community-based services in case management.
  • Provide advice and expertise about the clinical practice implications of Centre and Hospital policy and procedures to the Program Directors.
  • Assist in developing the Centre programme and actively participate in continuous improvement activities and apply quality improvement principles to all duties performed.
  • Provide appropriate written or educational material to consultants, health and cross-sector professionals and clients.
To be eligible for this role, you most hold a postgraduate qualification in genetic counselling and either completion of Part One Certification Training with the Human Genetics Society of Australasia (HGSA) or Board eligibility status with the HGSA.The Child and Adolescent Health Service (CAHS) is proud to be the leading service provider for paediatric healthcare in Western Australia, as the State’s only dedicated health service for infants, children and young people.
