Senior GIS Officer
Council is seeking to appoint a permanent full time Senior GIS Officer to contribute to Council’s success.
- Permanent Full Time, 9-day fortnight
- Lead and mentor a team of dedicated GIS Officers
- Work with various teams within Council to provide accurate GIS data
- Located in Calliope, with the opportunity to work throughout the region
About the Role
The purpose of this position is to oversee the management and maintenance of Councils geographical information systems (GIS) in accordance with relevant Australian standards, legislation, best practice and Councils Asset Management System.
Your role will include:
- Overseeing the management and maintenance of Councils geographical information systems in accordance with relevant Australian standards, legislation and best practice.
- Creating efficiencies with uploading data to GIS and MyData utilising feature manipulation engine (FME) and Microsoft sequel query language (MSSQL).
- Overseeing the management and maintenance of alignment, integration & synchronisation between Councils geographical information systems and other Council systems.
- Contributing to the development, management and maintenance of Councils Asset Management System.
- Developing your career in local government.
You will bring:
- Extensive experience, knowledge and skills in the application of GIS analysis techniques and software systems.
- Diploma/Bachelor degree in GIS or equivalent qualifications.
- Extensive understanding, technical knowledge and experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, reports, spatial information, data and database structures.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience using drone technology, downloading data to review, analyse and upload to ArcGIS.
- Extensive knowledge of the spatial dataset management principles.
- Extensive knowledge/experience in field collecting and presenting 3D spatial information using a variety of methods, formats and techniques.
- Extensive experience and application of GIS analysis techniques to aid in problem solving and representing appropriate information.
- Previous experience and demonstrated skills in the use of ArcGIS and AutoCad.
- Legally able to drive a motor vehicle in Queensland.
