Council teams engage across various sectors, delivering a wide spectrum of services aimed at enriching the lives of the community.Council employs more than 1500 staff and promotes a culture of communication, collaboration, leadership values, efficiency and integrity.The Role:As the Senior GIS Specialist you will report to the Team Leader (Spatial and Asset Information) and will have 3 direct reports (Specialist Officers) with the key objectives of the role seeing you develop, implement and coordinate corporate governance frameworks, processes and procedures relevant to Council’s enterprise spatial systems and GIS, in consultation with the Team Leader.Oversee the establishment, execution and surveillance of Council’s spatial data standards, specifications and operational guidelines to uphold data accuracy and relevanceProvide specialised technical guidance regarding the design, administration and upkeep of spatial systems and databases, ensuring seamless integration with other ICT systems Advocate for and champion the efficient utilisation of spatial systems and GIS, including mobile GIS solutions, throughout the organisationOrganise regular assessments of spatial data quality to ensure compliance with corporate standards and maintain data integrityCoordinate spatial analysis initiatives and projects to extract insights that enhance decision-making across various business unitsStay abreast of GIS industry trends, monitoring advancements and proposing initiatives that align with business needsDevelop and maintain strong partnerships with essential internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth spatial data exchange and achieve GIS goalsAbout You:Completion of tertiary qualifications from a recognised institution in the fields of spatial science, IT or associated discipline or a demonstrated ability at that levelExtensive experience in the implementation, management and utilisation of enterprise GIS platforms such as Esri ArcGIS SuiteProficiency in GIS technologies and the ability to continually update knowledge of emerging trends and technologies in this fieldDemonstrated track record of determining business requirements and effectively implementing change management strategies across an organisationEffective communication skills, both verbal and writtenWhy This Role?Council is heavily invested in providing professional development and comprehensive training will be provided to the entire team across all ESRI Enterprise functionality.
