Why your Role Matters
As the Senior Governance Administrator, you will play a key role in providing professional support for Council, senior management meetings and executive support to the Director of Governance and Governance team. You’ll also be responsible for delivering projects, providing advice on the application of policies and resolving issues communicated to the Chancellor.
The Senior Governance Administrator reports to the Director of Governance and holds significant working relationships with team members in Governance, members of Council and its committees, the University Leadership Team (ULT), and the wider university community. Your day to day will include:
- Facilitating the effective operation of Council, Council committees and senior management meetings.
- Liaising with stakeholders to establish meeting schedules and prepare meeting documents and activities.
- Supporting the development of ULT meeting packs.
- Driving the development of documentation required for the effective management and operation of committees to meet
(including legislative compliance obligations: terms of reference, declarations of interests, foreign affiliations, Defence security requirements). - Proactively identifying and resolving complex or sensitive issues arising in connection with the operation of committees and other compliance activities of the Unit.
Who You Are: We are looking for a proactive professional with relevant experience in governance who can confidently build effective relationships with executives, committee members and staff across UNSW, alongside:
- An understanding of the role and operation of governance bodies with demonstrated experience in providing high-level administrative support in a governance context. (Experience with Diligent Boards is beneficial, but not essential).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise and communicate with a wide range of people including external Council and Committee members and senior management.
- A high level of personal integrity and professional commitment, and the ability to deal with confidential matters with diplomacy and discretion.
- Ability to operate with a high level of independence and judgement and with a proven ability to work effectively on multiple tasks, meet deadlines, manage time, maintain high attention to detail and ensure targeted outcomes.
- Advanced computer skills, and in particular PowerPoint, Excel, databases, Outlook.
- Demonstrated project management, analysis, research, planning and advisory skills, combined with creative problem-solving skills.
- Advanced numeracy skills.
