Job Title:Senior Media Advisor (Government)
Location: St Leonards, NSW
Duration: 3 months (Possible extension)
Pay Rate:$583.65 - $833 per day plus superannuation
Primary Purpose of the Role: The Senior Advisor, Media is responsible for managing media initiatives, issues, and opportunities within a designated portfolio or business unit to enhance and maintain Health Infrastructure’s reputation in the media.
Key Accountabilities:
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to maintain a forward calendar of opportunities and implement a coordinated media approach aligned with the agency’s vision and priorities.
- Develop engaging and strategically aligned messaging and media materials, such as pitches, releases, statements, and Q&A, in a fast-paced environment.
- Research and create proactive story pitches and content/spokespeople to achieve strategic media objectives and enhance reputation.
- Cultivate effective relationships with media contacts for timely and accurate responses to inquiries and balanced coverage of agency activities.
- Monitor the external environment for issues and develop strategies to mitigate risks, escalating advice as needed.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders, government agencies, and other organizations for input and proactive opportunities.
- Evaluate and report on media activities to inform future approaches and advocate improvements.
- Contribute to the evaluation and improvement of systems and processes to optimize efficiency.
- Manage information and materials in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with competing deadlines.
- Stay informed about Health Infrastructure activities, broader NSW Health context, and public issues to develop effective responses.
- Navigate the complexities of a matrix organization and politically sensitive operating environment while adhering to communication protocols.
- Appropriate qualifications and senior-level experience in media, public relations, journalism, or relevant discipline within the government sector.
- Willingness to participate in after-hours and weekend on-call work as part of a team roster.
