Senior Media Advisor | Nsw State Government

Our large NSW State Government client plans and delivers sustainable and innovative infrastructure and asset management solutions to mee the needs of the NSW communities now and into the future.About the Role
They are currently seeking a Senior Media Advisor to join their team in St Leonards with the flexibility to work remotely from home. This is an estimated 3-month temporary assignment, with a potential to extend.The Senior Advisor, Media manages media initiatives, issues and opportunities for a designated portfolio or business unit to enhance and maintain the organisation’s reputation in the media.Responsibilities

• Proactively plan and maintain a calendar of opportunities
• Coordinate media approach and narrative aligned with the agency’s vision
• Prepare engaging, high quality and strategically aligned messaging and media materials including pitches, releases, statements, talking points and Q&A
• Translate complex, contentious and sensitive information from numerous sources to present appropriate advice and responses
• Research and develop proactive story pitches along with relevant content/spokespeople to enhance reputation
• Establish and maintain effective stakeholder relationships, facilitating collaboration, partnerships, information sharing, engagement and contribution of ideas
• Partner with media contacts, ensuring timely and accurate responses to enquiries
• Monitor external environment for issues and proactively develop strategies to mitigate risks
• Monitor, evaluate and report on media activities and outcomes, driving towards continuous improvement

About you

• Impeccable communication skills, both verbal and written
• Exceptional stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels
• Strong computer literacy skills and proficiency with MS Office Suite
• Superior organisational skills with the ability to multi-task and prioritise conflicting deadlines
• Solid analytical, negotiation and problem-solving skills
• High attention to detail

Requirements

• Tertiary Qualifications in Communications, Journalism or an equivalent field
• Demonstrated Senior Advisor, Public Relations, Journalism or Senior Communications experience
• Reliable remote internet access with the ability to work independently from home
• Willingness to undergo a National Police Check
• Fully COVID vaccinated or medically exempt
• Ability to commence and commit to the duration of the assignment
