About the role:
As a Senior Health and Safety Advisor you will be instrumental in promoting a culture of safety. You will join a small national H&S team where you will work closely with our recruitment operations teams across all industries. Working closely with our management teams and frontline employees, you will assess risks, implement preventive measures, and provide guidance on best practices to ensure a safe and secure environment for our employees and our clients.
Key Roles & Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement Health and Safety policies, procedures, and initiatives tailored to the unique needs of a recruitment environment.
- Conduct regular Client Risk Assessments (CRAs) and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide ongoing training and support to staff on Health and Safety best practices, including emergency procedures and ergonomic principles.
- Act as system expert for Safety Culture providing training and guidance to the business to ensure we are using the system optimally.
- Act as a primary point of contact for Health and Safety inquiries, concerns, and incident reporting.
- Stay informed about relevant legislation and industry standards. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and ensure the relevant managers and employees are informed and trained.
- Collaborate with management and departmental leaders to foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
- Work closely with the Director of Injury Manager.
- Provide continual reporting on incidents to senior management.
- Provide training and mentoring to less experienced team members when required.
Key Requirements For Success:
- Bachelor’s degree in occupational Health and Safety, environmental science, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Certified Health and Safety Professional (CHSP) designation or equivalent certification.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a Health and Safety role, with demonstrated expertise in risk management and compliance.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and industry standards, particularly as they relate to recruitment and staffing agencies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing effective Health and Safety programs in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
