About the Role

Located in the heart of the prestigious Adelaide beach suburb of Glenelg, we seek an adaptable, enthusiastic, studious professional accountant to join our Finance team. As the Hotel Accountant, you will assist to ensure the Finance Department operates compliantly and efficiently, by producing accurate, relevant reports to the Area Financial Controller and General Managers.

This is an exciting opportunity as the role entails shared responsibilities for Stamford Hotels and Resorts Adelaide. This role reports to the Hotel’s Area Financial Controller.

Core Functions of your role

Are to be completed whilst ensuring set internal policies and procedures are implemented and all operational methodologies are respected.

  • Produce accurate month-end accounts and reports, with comparisons to forecasts and budgets, taking into consideration historical data periods
  • Use appropriate resources to ensure compliance and consistency of policy, integrity of accounting processes and functions including daily reconciliations, ledger reconciliation balances
  • Establish productive working relationships with department heads to improve their overall understanding of relevant systems, procedures, financial results, budget and forecast processes to enhance profitability
  • Ensure payroll processes are maintained by remaining compliant with governmental laws on payroll accounting and taxes and participating in payroll audits
  • Assist the Finance Manager to ensure Cost Control and Purchasing Departments operate within set budgets
  • Liaise with third party stakeholders where required

About you

The ideal candidate will possess extensive working knowledge of accounting procedures within Australia, accompanying experience in Finance within the hospitality sector.

You will hold a tertiary qualification, be a qualified accountant and hold full time working rights in Australia. The role requires clear written and spoken English skills, an approachable pleasant attitude to support our cultural teamwork environment, coupled with.

  • Proficiency in Opera and previous experience with Sun Systems accounting platform preferable
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, possessing a high attention to detail
  • Ability to effectively time manage large volumed workloads, to meet deadlines and perform well in pressure situations
  • Excellent Microsoft and Excel office skills
  • Authentic interpersonal & communication skills & have an adaptable approach to resolve matters
  • Have a professional understanding of hotel operations
