Your day in the life of a Senior Insights Analyst at Optus
- Collect and capture data from various sources to clean and prepare for analysis, and using advanced analytical techniques (such as regression, cluster, time series, decision trees and survival analysis), identify trends, patterns, and insights that can drive business decisions and assist on work with business cases using the gathered data.
- Ensure that the data used in analysis is of high quality and accuracy, and will work to identify and resolve any issues that arise.
- Cooperate with multi-functional teams, such as digital, networks, etc, and build and maintain relationships with key business partners to understand their business requirements and develop data-driven solutions that support decision-making.
- Communicate sophisticated data concepts and insights to non-technical team partners in an accessible and actionable manner, enabling them to make informed business decisions.
- Provide mentorship and training to more junior analysts and other team members on data-related topics, helping to build their understanding of data and its role in driving business success.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and new technologies in the field of data analytics, ensuring that the company is demonstrating the best available data-driven solutions.
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant STEM field (e.g. Mathematics, Computer Science, Finance, Engineering, Statistics) with hands-on experience in data analysis and insights.
- Foundational proficiency in data analytics and statistical methods using tools such as Excel or Alteryx as a minimum, plus Proficiency in programming languages such as R, Python, or SAS, complimented by fantastic SQL skills and experience working with relational databases, big data platforms.
- Proven track record of working with large and complex data sets, and experience using data modelling techniques including machine learning algorithms and predictive modelling.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, experience with story-telling, project management and organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively, and in order to recognise and recommend solutions to sophisticated data-related issues.
