The position is part of the compliance program within the Reef Joint Field Management Program for the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area, which is jointly funded and managed by the Australian and Queensland Governments. The compliance program undertakes key functions including investigation and field operations within the World Heritage Area. Field activities are delivered across the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park (Commonwealth, including Commonwealth islands), the Great Barrier Reef Coast Marine Park (State) and island national parks (State), which together comprise the World Heritage Area.
The Senior Intelligence Officer plays an important role in protecting the values and integrity of the World Heritage Area through the application of best practice compliance management to meet objectives and legislative obligations.
The key duties of the position include
- Undertake research, analysis, integration and the evaluation of compliance information and data.
- Assist in the development of trend and pattern analysis to inform compliance planning and intelligence.
- Assist in the population, use and management of databases and other information management systems.
- Create information reports, undertake data quality assurance, and assist with managing and maintaining the intelligence section of the compliance program database.
- Assist in the preparation of briefing material, graphical displays and intelligence products as required.
- Develop and nurture internal and external stakeholder relationships to enhance the effectiveness of collecting and sharing information in support of the Reef Joint Field Management Program's strategic priorities.
- Populate and interrogate geospatial and entity management databases to conduct intelligence analysis.
