  • Salary commencing from $106,025 p.a + super and leave loading
  • Seeking Natural Resource Management skillsets

South East Local Land Services is seeking a dynamic and skilled Senior Land Services Officer to join our team in Bega. You will lead the team in delivering this project that will protect and enhance priority Threatened Ecological Communities within the South East Coastal Ranges Priority Place.  It will focus on protecting and expanding remnants of River Flat Eucalyptus Forest on Coastal Floodplains of Far South Coast and Lowland Grassy Woodland in the South East Bioregion and the habitat these vegetation communities provide to threatened species such as Greater Glider and yellow- bellied glider. 

The project seeks to link riparian and terrestrial habitat within this Priority Place via protecting and enhancing existing remnants and increasing connectivity to Threatened Ecological Communities patches via revegetation. 

Through this project South East LLS will support private and public land managers, including First Nations communities, to reduce key threats to priority areas by reducing the impact of weeds, feral herbivores and livestock grazing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facilitate Stakeholder Collaboration: Ensure that project goals are understood and implemented through effective collaboration among stakeholders, including private and public land managers, First Nations communities, and government agencies.
  • Manage Project Budget and Reporting: Oversee the project budget and grants process, ensuring financial resources are allocated appropriately. Prepare and submit regular progress reports, financial statements, and other required documentation to stakeholders and funding bodies.
  • Provide Guidance on Sustainable Practices and Develop Relationships: Offer guidance and support to landholders on sustainable land management practices, emphasising ecological conservation and community engagement. Build and sustain strong relationships with private and public land managers, First Nations communities, and government agencies to foster a cooperative and supportive project environment.
  • Implement and Monitor Restoration Strategies: Implement and oversee strategies for habitat restoration, weed management, and pest animal control, ensuring these initiatives are carried out effectively and efficiently.
  • Conduct Community Awareness Activities: Organize and lead community awareness activities to enhance understanding and appreciation of Threatened Ecological Communities among land managers and the broader community.

About You

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Qualifications and/or substantial experience in Natural Resource Management, with a deep understanding of ecological principles and sustainable land management practices.
  • Proven track record in grants administration, effectively managing grant applications, budgets, and reporting to secure project funding.
  • Extensive experience in engaging and forming strong relationships with landholders, communities, and stakeholders, fostering collaboration and trust.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, successfully leading projects, overseeing timelines, budgets, and deliverables, ensuring objectives are met efficiently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to convey complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Experience in supervising team members, providing mentorship and support, fostering a positive and productive work environment.

Having a positive and solution focused attitude, you’ll be able to think creatively and solve complex problems for both you and others as they arise. You’ll also be able to work autonomously with limited supervision and simply get things done.
