Implement your investigative skills to maximise compliance with planning and environment related legislation
About the role
At Logan City Council we value the connections we build with customers, industry and the community. Our team supports quality Land Use planning and compliance in Logan City through the effective management of illegal Land Use activities arising from residential and commercial premises across the city. We investigate and manage Land Use activities through the timely enforcement of development conditions and environmental laws.
In this role you will require industry knowledge and experience in the development industry with technical training related to the development industry being desirable. The successful candidate will display a strong customer service focus, high level analytical problem solving and decision-making skills including the proven ability to resolve complex investigations and negotiate outcomes.
Drawing on your investigatory knowledge to ensure the integrity of Council's response to Land Use related complaints, you will have a good understanding of regulatory frameworks, in particular the ability to interpret laws, statutes, policies, regulations and guidelines relating to planning and environmental compliance in Queensland.
Minimum Requirements of the role
- Knowledge of the Queensland planning and environment legislative framework.
- Ability to interpret and apply the Logan Planning Scheme 2015, Planning Act 2016 and Planning Regulation 2017.
- Certificate IV in Government Investigations, Bachelor in Urban (Town) Planning is highly desirable OR experience within government investigations
- Well-developed leadership and political acumen (to be considered for Senior Land Use Investigation Officer)
- Available as an escalation point afterhours on an "as required" basis to support “on-call” operations.
- 'C' class drivers' licence
- Ability to provide a satisfactory result for a National Police History Check
- Ability to undergo a pre-employment functional assessment and be assessed as being able to meet the functional requirements of the position
- It is compulsory that the incumbent be protected by the relevant immunisation in accordance with Council's Staff Immunisation Management Directive. Vaccines for this position include Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Tetanus, and Q Fever (Vaccines can be provided by Council free of charge upon commencement in the role).
