The Graduate School of Medicine’s (GSM) purpose is to improve health and wellbeing through best practice medical education and meaningful research. This will be achieved through:

The medical curriculum covers a diversity of content, encompassing biological and social sciences, clinical medicine, law, ethics, research and critical analysis, and personal and professional development. This provides a variety of opportunities for involvement in curriculum delivery for academic staff working alone and in interdisciplinary teams. The Doctor of Medicine (MD) program is delivered primarily on campuses located in Wollongong, Shoalhaven and Southern Highlands, as well as in numerous rural sites throughout NSW.

The Senior Lecturer (Academic Leader, Regional Clinical Training, Shoalhaven) will take a leadership role in contributing to the successful implementation of innovative ways to expand post-graduate training opportunities in the Shoalhaven region for medical graduates.  You will be engaged by the University of Wollongong (UOW), but work closely with relevant organisations and individuals in the region and beyond, including but not limited to the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD), community-based health providers (including general practices and Aboriginal Medical Services), the NSW Health Education and Training Institute (HETI), the Rural Doctors Network (RDN), other universities in the region, GP training providers, specialist training colleges, and the Primary Health Network (Coordinare). 

To be successful you will hold a medical qualification with eligibility for unconditional registration as a medical practitioner within Australia and Fellowship of a relevant generalist or specialist college. You will have a demonstrated ability to provide high quality clinical and medical education and training as well as a strong record in teamwork, mentoring and leadership including excellent interpersonal and communication skills. In addition, your record of accomplishment in scholarly activities, an ability to supervise research students in an academic setting and publications in national and international peer reviewed journals will be highly regarded.
