Level C $127,561 - $146,683 + 17% Superannuation (pro rata)
The Senior Lecturer in Biotechnology and Bioinformatics will be required to teach in the areas of genomics, proteomics, bioprocess, bioremediation, agriculture, and other related disciplines. Research expertise aligned with members of the School of Life and Environmental Science is highly desired. A keen passion and interest in training international students undertaking Masters level education is also highly desired. The appointee will undertake research and publish in areas corresponding to their area of expertise, ideally supported by sound experience gained by direct industry collaborations and partnerships.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Education and Employability
Integrate industry and/or research practice into unit and course design
Lead teaching teams to develop effective unit and course curricula and learning material
Lead the development and/or adoption of new innovation in curriculum design within a course
Deliver learner-centric, research-informed teaching across different levels / modes of delivery
Integrate industry and/or research practice to teaching
Lead unit and course teaching teams and working collaboratively with other faculty teaching teams
Research and Innovation
Lead growing, increasingly productive, high-quality research, scholarship and creative activities generating high impact outputs
Engage in and increasingly develops and leads academic or other collaborations that enable novel and high-quality research or creative activities
Widely communicates outputs to discipline(s), other sectors and the community, including nationally and increasingly internationally
Ensure impact of academic activity in the field and the community
University Citizenship and Engagement
Leading the implementation of citizenship activities and effectiveness as influence/champion at local/university level
Contribute to the development of citizenship activities and effectiveness at university level
Leading the implementation of specific aspects of the strategic agenda
Leading the implementation of community engagement activities
Key selection criteria for this role:
PhD in a relevant discipline and/or advanced qualifications and experience in the relevant discipline area
Excellent record of scholarly learning and teaching in UG and/or PG programs, including innovative curriculum design and research supervision
Nationally recognised research reputation underpinned by publications in quality journals and/or exhibitions and/or success in obtaining external research grants
Positive engagement with research, community, industry and government to enhance the national standing of the discipline
Demonstrated capacity and passion for leadership of teaching, research and/or administration
Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven ability to establish good working relationships with colleagues.
