Job description

Senior Lecturer in Nursing 

  • Full time, ongoing position
  • Based in Hobart, Launceston, Cradle Coast or Sydney with relocation assistance considered
  • Multiple positions available

The School of Nursing works in close partnership with Tasmanian health services and national healthcare partners to improve the health of Tasmanians and to educate a new generation of nurses with capability in leadership and future-focused health care.  We build our future workforce through innovative learning experiences using sophisticated digital and face to face delivery across our undergraduate and postgraduate courses. We foster a dynamic, highly engaged work environment with interdisciplinary opportunities for research and teaching across the across the university and with our health service partners. The School of Nursing sits within the College of Health and medicine which has a focus on boosting health and medical research performance and evidence-based learning and teaching to educate a new generation of agile health professionals and researchers. 

The Opportunity

We are seeking to appoint up to three teaching-intensive Senior Lecturers in the School of Nursing who have strong backgrounds and expertise in providing quality university education of nurses, developing local partnerships, health services research and innovation in learning and teaching.

If you are an enthusiastic and motivated Registered Nurse with post-graduate qualifications, this is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team boosting health and nursing research performance and evidence-based learning and teaching.  You will provide on campus leadership and contribute to a positive culture that enables high levels of collaboration and productivity to support the vision of the University to deliver place-based education.

An increased research fraction can be negotiated for suitable candidates with a PhD and strong evidence of research capacity.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Make a strong and sustained contribution to the University in achieving its strategic objectives and fulfilling its operational responsibilities.
  • Provide academic leadership, particularly in fostering outstanding learning and teaching, a high-quality student experience and the professional development of early career, teaching focussed academics.
  • Provide leadership in undergraduate and/or postgraduate contemporary nursing curricula through contributions such as course coordination, course and curricula development, adaption of online technology, and accreditation contributions.
  • Undertake scholarly undergraduate and postgraduate coursework teaching of an exemplary quality.
  • Undertake collaborative research and/or scholarly contributions as relevant for qualifications and the University’s performance expectations for Level C in areas that match school and college themes.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of productive and effective collaborations inside the University and locally and nationally with the discipline, relevant interdisciplinary domains, profession, industry and/or wider community.

­Your Application

To be successful in the role, your application will need to demonstrate:

  • Registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) and a postgraduate qualification (a minimum of Master level) in a relevant field.
  • Experience and demonstrated achievement in leading university-level teaching and learning including managing and coordinating courses, developing nursing courses and curricula and delivering dynamic learning experiences in undergraduate and postgraduate programs across all modes using contemporary teaching practices.
  • Demonstrated and significant experience in Nursing practice (with recency) including specialist clinical knowledge and the capacity to translate and apply this to innovative curriculum development and a high-quality student experience in a higher education setting.
  • Implementation of innovative approaches to learning and teaching, and capacity to lead quality improvement activities or evidence of research capability demonstrated by qualifications, publications, direct experience in research projects, or health service/program evaluation.
  •  Excellent interpersonal skills and a record of contributing effectively to building and maintaining transformative partnerships with the discipline, profession, industry (where relevant) and wider community.
  • Demonstrated high level leadership and organisational skills and proven ability to develop people and work effectively as a leader and team member in teaching delivery.

Remuneration

Appointment to this role will be at Academic Level C and will have a total remuneration package of up to $173,682 comprising base salary within the range of $130,713 to $148,446 plus 17% superannuation.
