Job description

The Division of Allied Health and Rehabilitation, Metro South Health are looking for a Temporary Senior Leisure Therapist to join their team. Leisure Therapy sits under the auspice of the Occupational Therapy Department. The team has a professional and supervision structure to support development of Leisure Therapists. The department aims to provide high standard services across the continuum of care with consumer participation, occupation based holistic care, evidence based clinical practice, research and evaluation, and education being integral to the work of the department.

About the Role
The purpose of this role is to deliver senior Leisure Therapy services within the Spinal Injuries Services at Princess Alexandra Hospital to promote, maintain and improve the health, functional ability and overall maintenance of health outcomes.
This includes:

  • Delivering high quality evidenced based Leisure Therapy clinical services to patients/consumers within a highly functioning interprofessional team.
  • Contribution to the advancement of quality Leisure Therapy services and optimal patient care, through provision of service development, quality improvement, and clinical education.
  • Monitoring and reporting on work practices and outcomes, including initiating, planning and evaluating relevant quality and research initiatives.
  • Providing supervision and training to less experienced (HP3) clinicians, students and to Allied Health Assistants (AHA's).
