About your new role:

The Senior Lines Design Engineer will apply their expert knowledge and experience in engineering to successfully lead & deliver safe, effective and efficient design solutions including professional engineering consultancy services for specialist Transmission & Distribution Lines Overhead projects & teams. We have multiple opportunities located at Brisbane, Toowoomba, Mackay, Townsville, Cairns, Rockhampton and Maryborough.

Currently there are multiple role opportunities available including both:

  • Senior Lines Design Engineer – specialising in Transmission Overhead Lines, or
  • Senior Lines Design Engineer – specialising in complex Distribution (Overhead / Underground), Distribution Substation, Earthing and Public Lighting Engineering projects.

Leading a specialist team, you will provide lines and public lighting design engineering consultancy services, ensuring co-ordination of multidisciplinary design production and liaison with key stakeholders to meet project, safe design and estimate completion objectives.

As a subject matter expert, take a lead role in providing Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) professional engineering advice, direction and supervision for Lines & Lighting Engineering projects, ensuring safety and quality outcomes for Energy Queensland assets and high levels of satisfaction to customers.

Develop, coach and mentor a team who provide specialised engineering design activities for the delivery of the Integrated Works Program, inclusive of technical development, coaching & training for Lines & Lighting Engineering projects.

With flexi-working and a 9 or 10 day fortnight in place, the salary band is $164,752-181,415 for 9 days and $186,170-204,999 for 10 days, plus superannuation of 12.75%. The level of payment will be subject to an assessment of the successful applicant’s knowledge, skills and competencies that are required in this position. Conditions of employment are in accordance with the Energy Queensland Union Collective Agreement 2020.

About you:

Important to the success of your role is your:

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering acceptable for membership of Engineers Australia in the Professional Engineering category.
  • Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) eligibility is essential.
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) with Engineers Australia, or equivalent is desirable. Qualifications in business, management, commercial disciplines are desirable.
  • Demonstrated expert technical knowledge and experience in the design principles and practices construction, and maintenance required for transmission, distribution and communication lines engineering, with an advanced knowledge of the associated civil and structural requirements.
  • Expert knowledge of Overhead Line construction and installation requirements, including substation interfaces, maintenance and operation of substation plant and equipment, and earthing systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team, providing technical leadership, support and guidance for the development of others.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with customers and stakeholders.
