Current opportunity
As a Senior Manager in the National Risk & Ethics team you
will use your analytical, research, investigative, organisational
and communication skills to promote compliance with auditor
independence rules and regulations as well as support the team in
delivering on key independence, conflicts and ethics projects.
Work closely with stakeholders within the business and
colleagues in our Central Risk Team on auditor independence
consultations and conflicts queries by applying the relevant
auditor independence rules and regulations as well as internal
policies and procedures. Experience applying auditor independence
rules in relation to scope of services or personal independence or
business relationships is required.
Perform a management role in relation to assigned independence,
conflicts and ethics projects. This will involve but not be limited
to the following:
Understanding the changes to policies, procedures, rules
and legislation by attending webinars, reviewing exposure
drafts and draft policies and procedures and providing input
into and co-ordinating feedback in relation to the changes
(standard setters, global, BDO locally)
Project mapping of the current and future state to identify
potential enhancements to existing policies and procedures or
propose new policies and procedures based on changes
Socialise project with relevant stakeholders
Design and development or updating of existing tools,
policies and process and socialisation thereof with relevant
stakeholders
Liaising with the Project Manager to formalise a
communication and learning plan to educate stakeholders in
relation to the project
Assist with technical content development of communication
and learning materials
What you’ll need to succeed
We are looking for a candidate with
proven
experience in understanding a revised auditor
independence standard and implementing changes to
reflect the revised provisions in the standard. You
must have strong knowledge of independence rules and
regulations.
Combined with:
Demonstrable experience in a similar role in a Professional
Services firm
Outstanding people leadership skills
Hands on approach, willing to action day to day tasks to
relieve pressure points for the team
Ability to quickly get up to speed with internal policies
and procedures relating to independence, conflicts and
ethics
Excellent project management skills and ability to
multi-task across various projects
Experience in drafting communication and developing
learning modules
