Your new role
The role of Senior Manager, Treasury Middle Office sits within the Investment Operations & Reporting function, and primarily exists to:
- Lead the operational management of cleared and non-cleared OTC, Repo, SBL and Futures collateral & margining to ensure the Fund's margin obligations are satisfied in a timely and efficient manner and equitably allocated into the Fund's portfolios.
- Regulatory oversight of the OTC portfolios and margin calls process in accordance with ASIC and APRA
- Lead the operational management of securities lending oversight program to ensure the efficient, effective, compliant, and segregated operational support is provided to the Balance Sheet Management team.
- Lead the build-out of a specialised Treasury Middle Office Function providing best-in-class global support to Investments across the UK and US.
- Jointly lead, the successful delivery of the complete suite of Investment Operations Services into the Investment teams
The Senior Manager will lead the day-to-day management of the function, ensuring the team effectively and efficiently meet Treasury Operations service deliverables, controls, and reporting. The role will also support the evolving Treasury Operations function by assisting with the build out of new capability and the Fund's broadening global investment management agenda.
Some key responsibilities but not limited to;
- Provide senior leadership in the execution of operational responsibilities covering Margining, Dispute Management and Trade Life Cycle activities across Futures, Repo, Cleared/Un-Cleared OTC, Treasury funding and liquidity management.
- Operational management of securities lending oversight program to ensure the efficient, effective, compliant, and segregated operational support is provided to the Balance Sheet Management team.
- Work closely with the Operations team and IT to continue the build and implementation of the Strategic Treasury Solution, (Calypso), covering Fixed Income and Money Markets instruments allowing for the in-housing of Middle Office support for these products. This is a multi-year project with multiple phases.
- Set up, implement and drive a new Middle Office Life Cycle management team to support FI/MM instruments.
- As part of the Calypso build out, ensure that maximum controls and efficiencies are implemented, to deliver the appropriate scale and automation that is required to support the growth of the fund to it $1trln target.
- Own and drive regulatory trade and portfolio reconciliation reporting in line with ASIC and APRA requirements. This will include the delivery of a new platform and set up of new processes as we internalise our regulatory oversight.
- As a global function drive and support the role out of our global offices with a standardised 'Follow the Sun' model
- Develop strong collaborative working relationships with global stakeholders, internal teams, and external service providers.
- Build and lead the teams providing pre and post trade support to investment teams executing trades globally, bringing AustralianSuper up to market best practice.
- Management and oversight of the regulatory trade reporting and reconciliations as outlined by ASIC and APRA's CPS 226 obligations.
- Motivate and inspire the team and suppliers by demonstrating commitment to the Fund's values, decision pillars and leadership principles.
What you'll need
- A tertiary qualification in Business, Accounting, Finance or Treasury disciplines
- Minimum 10 years relevant experience within Investments, with a focus on Investment Operations, Treasury Middle Office, and Collateral Management, including managing a small team, within a banking or financial institution environment.
- Experience implementing Margining Systems
- Well-developed problem-solving skills with a high level of curiosity
- Strong stakeholder management skills
- Demonstrated experience working across teams to deliver change.
- Significant experience with Portfolio Management Systems (Aladdin, Calypso etc)
- Advanced understanding of Custodian, Fund Accounting; Unit Pricing; Trade Operations & Middle Office processes
- Intermediate use of MS Office products
- A pro-active and positive attitude and proven record in leading; managing and developing a small team
- Highly desirable to have experience within a global Investment Bank
