AddressWe are currently seeking a suitably experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for a permanent position with a highly sought after and highly respected mobile plant equipment manufacturer for the mining, civils and road transport sectors.
With a local head office, you will be able to have decisions made effectively, rather than needing to have international processes, input and authorisation. The focus will be to assist with the mechanical engineering design team and to implement standardisation of products and processes efficiencies.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide mechanical engineering and design support including bids, bill of materials, calculations, design briefs and technical documentation
- Provide mentoring and training to junior engineering team
- Communicate with internal stakeholders to improve efficiencies and costs
- The innovation of new processes to challenge current methods and product development, whilst standardising systems and processes to optimise output
- Produce design and fabrication drawings using SolidWorks and PDM software
- Perform root cause analysis, FEA, stress management and risk assessments on structures
- Perform 3D scanning, testing of equipment and reporting
- Management of projects from inception to completion
- Provide technical advice and support for manufacturing and fabrication teams
- Establish clear lines of communication between each of the company divisions
- Promote enthusiasm, inspiration and motivation within teams
Key Requirements
- Degree qualification with experience in Mechanical Design Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years demonstrated post graduate experience
- Experience in heavy fabrication, mining and/ or road transport environments
- Conversant in 3D design packages such as SolidWorks
- Experience in LEAN processes would also be an advantage
- Intuitive and quickly adaptable to a new and broad mechanical equipment product range
- Optimize and Standardise business processes, product development and cost efficiencies
- Confident, Energetic, Self-Driven and highly communicative
