Senior Mechanical Designer & Senior Piping Designer – Multiple Roles

The Roles

With a growing team of over 100 employees and multiple projects in the pipeline, we are currently seeking a Senior Mechanical Designer and Senior Piping Designer to join our team in Melbourne. Reporting to the Design Manager, both roles will be crucial in the creation of detailed designs and the development of mechanical/piping systems for mining related facilities and equipment. 

Senior Mechanical Designer - Scope

• Management, ownership and coordination of mechanical design projects from feasibility level through to detailed design.
• Detailed design of mechanical elements, such as conveyors, surge bins, chutes and transfer stations
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines (e.g. civil, structural, electrical, instrumentation) to ensure coordination and integration of mechanical elements with overall plant design
• Prepare design drawings with sufficient detail for fabrication where required

Senior Mechanical Designer - Skills and Experience

• Tertiary qualification in mechanical design, with 6+ years of Multidisciplinary design experience in the mining and resources sector.
• Relevant experience in mining, minerals processing, and/or bulk materials handling industries
• Knowledge of industry standards and regulations governing mechanical design in the Australian mining sector
• Familiarity with engineering design software packages such as Bentley MicroStation and Prosteel desirable. 
• Good presentation and communication skills at all levels.
• Demonstrated understanding of industry safety and environmental standards.

Senior Piping Designer - Scope

• Develop robust engineering designs for piping systems, with a focus on mining related equipment and infrastructure including process piping, utility piping, and associated components, from feasibility level through to detailed design.
• Design and specify pipe supports to provide adequate support and stability for piping systems. 
• Preparation of piping isometrics suitable for fabrication and development of MTOs
• Coordinate with engineers and vendors to integrate piping systems with process equipment, vessels, pumps, compressors, and other components.

Senior Piping Designer - Skills and Experience

• Tertiary qualification in piping design, with 6+ years of design experience in the mining and resources sector.
• Relevant experience in mining, minerals processing, and/or bulk materials handling industries
• Knowledge of industry standards and regulations governing piping design in the Australian mining sector
• Familiarity with engineering design packages including Bentley Microstation and OpenPlant. Experience in developing and managing databases and specifications within the OpenPlant environment is desirable.
• Experience in other design disciplines such as mechanical or structural design is advantageous
